Στις 2 Νοεμβρίου 2000 πραγματοποιήθηκε η απονομή του βραβείου «WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award» στην Αίθουσα Τελετών του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Το βραβείο επιδόθηκε στις μελέτες :
- «New estimates of radiative forcing due to well mixed greenhouse gases» του Δρα G. Myhre του Πανεπιστημίου του Όσλο, Νορβηγία.
- «Study of the structure of the lower troposphere over Athens using a backscattering LIDAR during the MEDCAPHOT-TRACE experiment: Measurements over a suburban area» του Δρα Δ. Μπαλή του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης.
Εύφημος μνεία απενεμήθη στη μελέτη :
- «Role of lee waves in the formation of solid polar stratospheric clouds: Case studies from February 1997», του Δρα E.D. Riviere, του CNRS, Γαλλία.
