WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award 2012

The Award Ceremony for 2012 was held on 29 October 2012 in Athens. The prize was awarded to the following papers :

“An Arctic CCN-limited cloud-aerosol regime” by T. Mauritsen, J. Sedlar, M. Tjernström, C. Leck, M. Martin, M. Shupe, S. Sjogren, B. Sierau, P.O.G. Persson, I.M. Brooks and E. Swietlicki, published in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (VOL. 11, 2011), and

“Observed surface warming induced by urbanization in east China” by X. Yang, Y. Hou and B. Chen, published in the Journal of Geophysical Research (VOL. 116, 2011).

At the Award Ceremony Dr. Geir Braathen, representing the Secretary-General of WMO, made a brief introduction to the “WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award”. The Ceremony was attended by Mr. Ioannis Grivas, former Prime Minister of Greece, Professor Barbara Cannon, President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Professor Stefan Claesson, Vice President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Mrs Marianna Vardinoyannis, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs. Mette Knudsen, Ambassador of Denmark, Mr. Jan Versteeg, Ambassador of the Netherlands, Mr. Anders Wijkman, Member of European Parliament, Academicians, Professors from the University of Athens, the University of Stockholm, the National Technical University of Athens, Researchers from the National Observatory of Athens, the Hellenic Center for Marine Research, the Hellenic National Met. Service and many distinguished scientists.

The central auditorium of the Academy of Athens where was hold the ceremony of the “WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award”.
