Professor Christos Zerefos, member of the Academy of Athens and president of the Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation (MKF) for Environmental Sciences, is the National representative of our country in GEO (GEO Principal). Due to various commitments of Professor Zerefos, Greece was represented by Dr. Vasileios Tritakis, head of the Greek GEO office, member of the MKF administrative board and substitute of the national representative in GEO.

The main subjects which took most of the time during the two-days GEO meeting were progress and implementation of GEOSS (GEO System of Systems) and the acceptance of the new work plan 2012-2015.

Next plenary GEO meeting has been announced to be held in Brazil in the coming November 2012.
