Athens World Wide Views on Climate and Energy

On the occasion of the International Day for the Environment, 6 of June 2015, the Mariolopoulos - Kanaginis Foundation for Environmental Sciences, the Climate Change Impacts Study Committee (CCISC) of the Bank of Greece and the Post Graduate Programme of the University of Athens on "Environment and Health" coorganised a public discussion on man made climate change and its impacts.

The Forum as entitled : "Athens World Wide Views on Climate and Energy" and as part of an international initiative which took place at 75 countries with the participation of 10.000 citizens. The Greek participating group consisted of 122 citizens took place in the Hotel Caravel. The citizen's views aimed to provide insight of the public opinion during the 21st meeting COP 21 of the UN initiative which will take place in Paris December 2015.

The results of the open Forum were presented on June 24, 2015 at the Bank of Greece. The event was addressed by the Deputy Minister for Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy Mr. Yiannis Tsironis, the French Ambassador in Athens Mr Jean Loup Kulm-Delforge and the member of the Monetary Policy Council of the Bank of Greece Mr Charalambos Stamatopoulos. At the event Professor Christos Zerefos, Academician, President of MKF and coordinator of the Committee for Climate Change at the Bank of Greece and Mrs Theodora Antonakaki from Bank of Greece provided introductory and organization details on the event. Professor Polyxeni Nikolopoulou-Stamatis member of the board of directors of MKF presented the detailed results of the Forum.
