Dr. George Mariolopoulos

He was born in Athens where he completed his primary and secondary education.

He graduated from the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

From the University of Grenoble, France, he received the following qualifications:

  1. D.E.A. Diploma in Nuclear Physics.
  2. Doctorat de 3e cycle in Nuclear Physics.
  3. Doctorat d’ Etat in Natural Sciences.

As a researcher, he has worked on the French Atomic Energy Commission (C.E.A.) with the object of studying the fission mechanisms of heavy nuclei and the products of the reaction. He wrote a lot of research papers on this subject, which were published in foreign scientific journals and in the proceedings of international conferences.

He taught Physics at the Evelpidon Military Academy, at the Hellenic Air Force Academy (Icarus) and at the High School of Athens College. For many years, he was Academic Head of Natural Sciences at Athens College.

He has been a regular member of the Board of Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences since its establishment.
